ouse of Hope, Inc. was founded by Mrs. Alma Johnson in March of 2001. The
company was incorporated in the Kansas and maintains its headquarters in Wichita. Mrs. Johnson continues to serve as the President and CEO of the company.

rs. Johnson has extensive professional and personal
HOH Picnic 06/29/2007knowledge gathered from many years of working with thousands of MR/DD persons. Prior to founding House of Hope, Mrs. Johnson was a foster parent for many years, often fostering children with very high needs. Although she looks back on those years as being highly rewarding, somehow being a foster parent just wasn't enough.
So Mrs. Johnson began a professional career working for a leading non-profit organization providing services to individuals with disabilities. After 5 "interesting, challenging and educating" years, Mrs. Johnson realized her calling and embarked on a journey to create a "House of Hope."
Johnson's decision to start House of Hope? It was undoubtedly her adopted daughter Kristen. "At the time we first received Kristen as a foster child, she was in terrible shape," says Mrs. Johnson. "Kristen required 24 hour nursing care and had been in numerous foster homes, and she was under the custody of the State." Mrs. Johnson believed that what Kristen, and so many others like her, truly need is a consistent and loving environment. In short, they need and deserve a "House of Hope."

hat was the true inspiration behind Mrs.
Today, Kristen is healthy, beautiful and well-behaved young lady under the guardianship of Mrs. Johnson and her family. While Kristen's story is one that demonstrates the power of hope and the strength of love, her story is certainly not the only success story of House of Hope. "At House of Hope," says Mrs. Johnson, "Every day seems to have at least one miracle. All of us here are always so proud of our clients and their personal successes!"
